Herman D. Yarbrough of Marks, 68, heavy equipment operator, died of heart failure on Saturday, October 14, 2000, in Marks.
Services were Tuesday, October 17, at Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville with burial in Crowder Cemetery. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Yarbrough, the husband of Hazel Merle Goggans Yarbrough, also leaves three daughters, Peggy Elmore of Horn Lake, Gail Tullos of Charleston and Debby Hudson of Hernando; two sons, Kenneth Yarbrough of Crowder and Tommy Yarbrough of Kingston, TN; a sister, Johnnie Mae King of Lambert; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Midsouth Transplant in Memphis.

Young, Violet “Betty”
Violet “Betty” Young of Memphis, formerly of Lambert, died January 19, 2011, at Delta Medical Center in Memphis. Services were Saturday, January 22, at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion M. B. Church in Lambert, Rev. Michael Jossell, Sr., Pastor and Officiant. Burial was at Allen Chapel Cemetery, Lambert. Delta Burial Corp. of Marks had charge of arrangements.
Born August 8, 1942, to the late William Bill and L. B. Taper in Lambert, Betty confessed Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age and joined the New Mount Zion M. B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Harry Benmoin. She later moved to Memphis, TN, and had a church home there. She was called to the ministry of Evangelism in 1999. She returned to her church in Lambert but later moved back to Memphis to be with her beloved son and united with Eureka Baptist Church under Pastor Leonard Mason, until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Young; two brothers, James Taper and Marcus Kimble; and a sister, Ina Leggon.
Betty was a retired home health worker and a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord, her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, John Wesley, Sr. of Memphis; two grandchildren, John Wesley, Jr. and Toronda Taper-Survillion; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adelean Wilborn of Lambert and Fannie Taper-Gordon of Memphis; four brothers, John (Fannie) Johnson of St. Louis, MO, Frank (Mae) Johnson of Chicago, Robert “Bob” (Dora) Johnson of Crowder and William Taper of Lambert; an uncle, Toffee Taper; a godson, Alfonzo Williams of Memphis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
