Taper, Toffice
Toffice Taper, age 103, passed away on January 30, 2012.
He was born to Sanford “Sank” Taper, Sr. and Eliza Rattler Taper on November 21, 1908.
Toffice “Tee” gave his life to God as an adolescent and was a member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Quitman County Voters League, the Black Men of Quitman County, and the NAACP.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, of (62) sixty-two years, his parents, twelve siblings as babies, three brothers Sanford Taper, Jr., William Taper, Mose Taper, Sr., and three sisters Fannie Spearman, Betty Tabor Houston, and Julia Porter.
He is survived by his step-son, John R. Taylor of Lambert, MS, a goddaughter, Mattie Lou (Marvin) Smith of Newburgh, IN; and a multitude of special nephews, nieces, cousins, step grandchildren, step great grand and step great-great-grandchildren, and friends.

J. C. Tedford of El Paso, TX, a native of Quitman County and former resident of Crowder, died of a heart attack Friday, October 6, 1995. Services were held in El Paso with burial in Fort Bliss Military Cemetery.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 8, at the Lambert Cemetery for relatives who were unable to attend the services in Texas. Mr. Tedford’s grandson, Rev. Mike Harper of Harperville, TN, conducted the memorial service.
Mr. Tedford leaves a large family of relatives including two sisters, Mrs. Ora Horton of the Quitman County Nursing Home and Mrs. Madge Ivy of Darling.

Mary Reed Thrash, 88, retired teacher of Lambert, died of cancer on Thursday, December 25, 1997, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.
Services were at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks with burial in Lambert Cemetery.
She was a member of the Lambert Christian Church.

Thompson, Alfred
Funeral services for Alfred Thompson were held in Chicago, IL on January 14, 2006.
He was born August 24, 1938, in Darling, to the late Herbert and Angeline Thompson and was the youngest of nine children.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Thompson; two sisters, Ada Blaylock and Charlene Freirson; and a brother, Anderson Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Thompson, and two daughters, Nakeeva Thompson and Debbie Jackson, and a son, Danya Thompson, all of Chicago, IL; four sisters, Lotte Thompson of Darling, Ora Thomson of Chicago, Myrtle Perkins and Mary Crawford, both of East St. Louis, IL; a brother, Lee Ester Thompson of Darling; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Turner, O. P., Sister Virginia
Sister Virginia Turner, O. P., coordinator of ministries of DePorres Delta Ministries, died at her residence in Marks of heart failure on Saturday, April 15, 1995.
Memorial services will be held in Marks on Sunday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home.
Services for Sister Virginia were held on Wednesday, April 19, at Sinsinawa Mound, WI in the chapel with burial in the cemetery there.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, an educator, and a member of the Order of Dominican Sisters.
She is survived by a sister, Janet Gordon of Lombard, IL.
It is requested that memorials be sent to DePorres Delta Ministries, P. O. Box 376, Marks, MS 38646.

Tyler, John Olan
John Olan Tyler of Clarksdale died June 23 at the home of his daughter, Dorlis Yount, in Clarksdale. A retired farmer and factory worker, he was 84.
Graveside services were June 25 at Providence Cemetery at Carmack Community. National Funeral Home of Clarksdale had charge.
In addition to Ms. Yount, he leaves another daughter, Ms. Shirley Weaver of Lambert; two sons, Tommy Tyler of Kalamazoo, MI, and Jimmy Tyler of Birmingham, AL; two sisters, Maurice Crestwell of Greenwood and Hassie Mae Albright of Corinth; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
